I've decided to do a mild performance build on the old slant, and I'd like to know what you guys think about my choices.

170 144 SI valves
mild head port and shaved .100
Dutra Duals
Offy 2x1 intake (I know a 4bbl is better, but I really dig the look)
comp 264 cam

I've already got a pertronix kit installed.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

thanks
-josh

Read through the Block Prep article for some info.
http://www.slantsix.org/articles/dutra- ... blocks.htm

I would invest in a good timing gear and chain set. Degree the cam.
A case hardened oil pump gear would also be a good piece of "insurance".

Thanks Doc. That is a superb article. Where can I get said oil pump gear and how much should I add to my budget for it?

Sounds like a plan to me!
What carbs will you mount on that Offy? BBS's?

Yup, carter BBS's. They're what I've always had, so I'm more comfortable with them.
