Tim Keith and I have been swapping e-mails lately regarding the possibility of casting a revised slant six cylinder head. He knows way more about how to design a cylinder head than I do, I am just interested. We were thinking about a revised combustion chamber design and maybe some other modifications with a mind towards designing a head for fuel injection.

Anyone interested? Doug Dutra has proven that it is possible to do small production custom parts. I think if we got enough interested folks together we could pool resources and maybe have some new technology developed for the old slant.

Feel free to add any comments, pointers, ideas, criticism, etc... I know nothing about the technical aspects of this, I am just very interested.

No need to be sorry! Was just pointing you at the old thread so you could read the extensive discussion that had already taken place on the matter. Sooner or later, the right combination of knowledge, skill, talent, time, facilities, interest and money may come along and we'll have a nice aftermarket head for the G engine. But all seven factors have to be present, and so far they haven't been...

Yeah, that was a good thread. After reading it it sound like a better short term idea would be to develop a knowledge base about what sorts of modifications can be done to the stock cylinder head, such as welding and grinding. Maybe if a slanter wins the lottery they could finance the development of a cylinder head.

The cylinder head topic comes up at least 4 times a year. Problem is that you can not get enough people to agree on what they want to make one economically feasible. I can't even remeber the number of people who have contacted me with claims they were building a head. Most were really pissed off when I offered to buy a finished head, but would not blindly send cash to their cause. I even had one guy threaten to come and kick my ass. I posted my address and phone number for him, but he hasn't shown up yet.

The truth is that there are maybe 6 cars in the country that need more head than what you can do with a stock head. Mine is not one of them.

Slantzilla, good point ,plus the fact that there are some "racers" braking forged cranks that are second only to 440s in raw forged strenght...!!!

Most may not need more head(did I say that??) but I think most could use a "better", or modern chamber?

Why the need for a new head. If you cann't suck enough air thru the current one you can always blow more air thru with a good blower.

Now thats a smart man! Stock head is working fine for us.

Disadvantages - can not run methanol with it. Rules out some of the racers.

Here a Picture of something me and the boys cobbled together 1 weekend. I had to piece together 2 chains to reach the slant crank snout....run the stock EI off a short chunk of the old cam.

We used a stock Super Six manifold and BBD. You have to make 2 studs longer.

I used a stock Chev v8 thermostat housing which fit the upper rad house perfectly.

Id say most folks could put this together in an afternoon for less than $300.
