I was looking at the exhaust manifold I planned to use tonight and noticed the spring on the outside of the flapper is broken. I'm a little fuzzy on how it worked to begin with and wondered if I need to replace it or if it's ok as is? I live in Florida where cold weather isn't much to worry about, but the spring was there for a reason I guess. Looking at it I don't see a way to remove it without cutting the weld on the flap to let the shaft press out of the manifold, please tell me there's another way. I have other manifolds, but this one has been blasted and coated with hi-temp black already. Advice?
