Want to install a dual exhaust on a 225 stock motor. Which would be a better choice, Cliffords or the Doctors, and why?

If it were me, I'd go with the Dutras. You still have the carb heat for faster warm up, and they will be quieter since they are cast iron. Just my opinion though.

I have to agree with Eric on going with the Dutra Duals. I have these on my '78 Volare daily driver, and they are very easy to live with. Headers would work okay, but as Eric pointed out, with Dutra Duals you still have that heat riser which helps in keeping your slant streetable. Headers are more difficult to install, louder, produce more heat, and plus they won't last as long as cast iron manifolds. With headers I don't think you would see enough of a performance gain to justify putting up with the hassles of them, especially if this is a street car. If its a race only car, that might be a different story. There are probably other people who are very happy with the headers on their slant, and that's great. This is just my opinion.

Have fun whatever you do,

Wes

I've never tried headers, but I have to go with the Dutra Duals. Because you use your stock manifold, it's easy to keep your stock or near stock throttle/kickdown linkage with no modification. I just installed 'em on my '68 Dart a week ago and I'm having so much fun driving it...no loss of low end torque (as far as I can tell) and a substantial increase in mid range power. Even my non car guy friend noticed the difference. It's a true dual system --a 2" pipe coming from each manifold to a crossover rear of the transmission to two turbo mufflers. The car is still very quiet.

I'll try to get some pictures of it up here soon.
