after runnin perfect for 3 weeks....the gremlins have arrived.

acts fuel starved but new pump and blew the lines clear from tank to carb...seems to be decent fuel supply...tried 2 diff. carbs. and has good spark.

runs good for a minute or 2 then bucks and sputters and stalls.
no sign of timing chain jump, rotors right on #1 at tdc.

points and condenser are new...threw in new plugs&rotor.

dont think the fuel pump cam lobe is wore? motor had 39,000 mi. before installing it.. sat for several years but was squeaky clean.

im down to possible intermitent ignition prob or some anti mopar type dumped somethin in the tank...the fuel is on the yellow side!

or have i missed something

Oil pressure?
I have had slants that read OK, But i never pulled the pan and the sludge packed the pick up tube and then they seized.(because I ran them past that bucking coughing stage)Did you pull teh pan first? Alwas a recomended thing to do. the lite never read because it was packed with crap too. How old is it? How long did it sit? Did you use detergent oil? Did it knock all teh sludge into the pan which could be blocking the screen?

Next: Does it run good for a minute, then run like crap, then as soon as you restart it it runs good, or is there a time delay/heat related performance issue as in you nee dto let it sit for a while before it runs right again?

Get another condenser. I have had them come new bad. Puzzelling thing to have happen. All the simptoms you desctibed, including Idled OK, but as soon as it went into drive or had any load on it it fell on its face.

Good Luck, Hopefully that will get you started.

I don't think you have an issue with the cam lobe, but the fuel pump could be bad (I ahve had that happen too.) Put a guage on it, it should be about 7 lbs all the time. If not, get a new one.

Good LucK!

check the first piece of rubber hose leaving the fuel tank. they tend to kink or turn soft and suck flat when running the car. Dont let this get around, I have gotten some great deals on cars on account of that little piece of hose!!!!!

Have you checked to see if you sucked dirt into the carb. or a blocked fuel filter? After sitting for so long it's possible that rust formed in the tank and lines and has now come lose and plugged things up.
