Hi gang, been awhile since I posted anything in here.

I am getting the motor ready to install into my van as the old one finally gave up. I have an ISKY cam in this motor and I am going to order one of those complete intake, carb, exhaust and air cleaner set-ups I see on Ebag to fill in the top part.

The van started life as a three-on-the-tree so I am removing all that and taking everything I can off of the pickup I have. It was an automatic. That means I have the kick down linkages etc. EXCEPT - the pickup is a shorty and the van is a long one!

The motor came out of my old '65 automatic and it's going to get a tranny that came out of a '67 - so I am guessing that I need a convertor made for this??

Where is the number for the Convertor outfit that's in my area here in CA? I think they were located in Anderson,CA and I remember reading something about them being excellent and reasonable?

Anyway, any ideas or help would be most appreciated. I am doing this all on practically no money and without a running vehicle to drive - haven't seen my kids in almost 3 weeks now dangit!

You should be OK using a 67 trans behind a 65 engine. But if you need a converter.

also if your town city has a transmission shop/jobber-- they should be able to get what you need. This is the store where all the tranny shops buy their parts from-- good luck!!!!!!

Any idea where I can get a new bushing for the hanger on this 727?
I am having my 727 rebuilt right now - $140 labor, plus parts.

Okay, here's what I found out to this point.
The tranny is at the guys shop and he has it apart and found that an aluminum "hanger" broke and dropped into a drum and those parts need to be replaced. He has upped the quote of $140 plus parts to $400 and that includes a shift kit and all the new parts and labor?

Typical huh?

I finally got the block into the van - three of us and an engine stand and an engine hoist and two sheets of plywood to get it down from my"shop" and into the van!

I started looking at the spacer, the crank spacer, and comparing flex plates and the torque converter. I found that all the parts I have FIT!!

When I set the crank spacer onto the hub of the torque converter it pushed right on!

My understanding is that if that is the case, then I should be able to just bolt them together and not worry right now about a new torque converter. I know it will probably have to be done in the very near future to really enjoy the work I am doing, but at least I should be able to get it on the road and useable for now.

I have already cut and pasted the dash shifter into place.
I received my new window and door rubbers from George and I am in the process of trying to get them installed while waiting for others to finish their work on my parts. Gotta get the glue ?? to install the door rubbers?
Forgot to ask George what to use! Typical

Anyway, slowly but surely it's going back together and it's looking great too! Painting it red along with the chrome cover, chrome coil and the shiny new MSD6AL controller!! Gotta find the insulation for the inside of the box too!
