I just got done putting a $1000 system into my 73 swinger and my supplier told me that hiding it in the glove box was just going to be too hard and not worth the time/money. I think the best thing to do is get an under-dash mount kit ($25), flip it upside down and mount it under the seat, plus most brand new stereos come with a remote control. I have 2 6x9's in the back window and a 12" in 850w sub in the trunk. I also have two 6.5 rounds in the doors, but considering they are drowned out by the 6x9's (50w versus 220w), I really wish I hadn't cut holes in my doors or bought the speakers at all. I left the orignal am radio in the dash for looks, and to deter thieves, if you just tell your supplier/installer it's important not to alter the original looks of your car, they can usually give you some creative ideas about how to hide stuff.

You'll also want to consider power drawn off your electrical system. Because of where I live I often have to run the wipers, lights, heater, the works, and with my new stereo I had problems. I wound up having to add a 90amp alt and a deep cycle battery.

If you are in the Portland/Vancouver area, check out Audio Source on Highway 99 in Hazel Dell. Ask for Isaac. He's honest and will have a ton of options for placement. He even offered to make me a cover for the 6x9's for an extra $20 (I was worried about somebody busting my curved back window).

I have the original AM radio, with an FM converter, to keep the car "period correct", even though not original. This is in my 59 Polara. My Valiants/Cuda's, do not have radios. Wouldn't be able to hear them over the exhaust, anyway.
