MiDi,
I know it sucks ,but you are very lucky that you have a lot of good people who live near you , and are willing to help you , and do whatever they can do get you back running again.

I think you are becoming the Bob Ross of the /6 world , dont forget a touch of Van Dyke brown

Good luck

Dave

The cylinders are very smooth, and there is a thin ridge at the top. So, it'll be an easy fix.

I'll look at the cranks I have... I'll see if I have a late crank and leave it in the 'dropbox'... if I don't you'll have to find one... or get one of the early one's THOR has and get the pocket reamed out... (price can't be as bad as getting a crank kit...)

Ok in the drop box is:
New Sealed Power Cs-380 cam, no lifters
New (out of the box, not installed) Timing Set
Degree wheel if you decide to dial the cam in correctly

I have two cranks, but both are 'pre'-68 with the small rear pocket...
they both have pilot bushings too...

Oy Veh...

moving the engine on the crane was impossable with my gravel driveway.
so i did what i could and got the job done. i also loaded it by my self. it's loaded and ( romper stomer ) - the slant six truck is full of gas.
tomorrow it rolls down south (slowly!) with it's precious cargo.

There are chunks of MiDi's engine all over my shop.

He's a good camper. He needs help, and doesn't pretend he knows something he doesn't! A good guy! He does know computers!

His cylinders mic'd out OK, and his journals look OK. We're putting it back together...sans the Nylon timing set! We'll put an oiler jet to the timing set before we put it back together!

Looks like he has a 68k Motor. We're going to update it a bit!

Anyway, we honed his motor, and now we're going to see how it reacts!

CJ

MiDi's engine is pretty much back together.

It's running over 100° out there! We're all sucking down the gatorade, and sweating our fool butts off.

Almost done!
