You don't have to drive anywhere. Just ask the tracks you are using to run 1/8th mile one or both days instead of 1/4. Every 1/4 mile track is also an 1/8 mile track. I must be missing something here... Lou |

Why not use the 1/8th time from the 1/4 time slip? You still have the same thing. Richard |

Looks like PJ Jesiolowski took the ET record for D/Gas, and Mark now holds the A,B,C Gas records. The C/Gas record had stood for over 6 years prior. Congratulations to Mark and PJ on the new records. It's great having so many new records being set. I'm pretty sure I still have my Elk Creek time slips! Woo Hoo! I am a record holder! I am going to make myself a shirt!! I need a form !! I need to hurry before Mark gets it!! Rick |

I like the way you think! Do it! Quote: I need to hurry before Mark gets it!!
Now THAT's Funny! (There's always a certain element of truth to anything funny. Otherwise it wouldn't be funny. Think about it... I just emailed you the Record Form. |

I got the form. I got the time slips! And I got a record! I think! 12.19, and 12.17 are my fastest times! About 51 MPH. Hope Mark doesn't check his mail before this is official!! Rick |

We will certainly discuss this issue at the Eastern banquet and put it to a vote. I wouldn't be surprised if the vote goes to allow use of 1/8th mile splits. Hopefully Mark and Fopar can get some sleep then... Lou |

Lou, Can we at least get my name published in the record page before we change the rule? This will likely be my only record and it will be a lifetime achievement!!! Rick |

Lou Not to take offense at the split. I don't care to or want to be famous, just like to race for the fun of it. But there is no requirment for "60 ft" being set at 1/8 or 1/4. heck there might not even be a record for this. Richard |

I am only asking if there can be equitable spacing between classes. All that would be required is to drop the D break to 3050. Then there would be 350 between all classes, not 350 and 500. |

Seems fair to me.

Thanks to all for your thoughts! Rick, Seymour and your son Ryan are the keepers of records, so they are the ones to talk to. Fopar and Mark, No such thing as a 60ft record except as a "bragging rights" thread on this site. Really, the main case for not using 1/4 mile splits for 1/8 records is if there were a bunch of folks with cars set up for 1/8 mile, which there are not. Mark does have a point that we *could* do Eastern and Western records, but I think the records should be "world encompassing." We will discuss in 10 days... Dennis, Not sure I agree with the "equitable" spacing part. D class was set up to encourage typical street type cars. In my world, equitable spacing would be based on percentage of car weight, so the A class might be 2000-2299, B: 2300-2649, C: 2650-3049, D: 3050-3500. This would be approx 15% of the base wt for a class to determine each class range. Or, maybe 18% or 20% would make more sense? Should we add an E class? I did not know anyone disagreed with the D class weight break. Best, Lou |

im all for the D/G going to 3050 as i wont have to ballast... but if D ends at 3500 i really cant think of what would run in it besides some b bodies and trucks... my dart stock weighted around 3300 in stock trim and my 65 belvedere HDt with the slant was only 3400...

Quote: Lou,
This scenario is a good reason (in MY mind) NOT to allow the 1/8 mile splits for records. Can we at least get my name published in the record page before we change the rule? This will likely be my only record and it will be a lifetime achievement!!! Rick There is still some room (for now) for people to look through the records, find an "open spot" and make a plan to grab a record. Even if it is short lived. Pretty much all of the 1/8 mile records would quickly be claimed by the fast 1/4 mile racers as not much more than a "bonus" as they collect all the records. No offense meant to the fast folks collecting records. I think it's great. However, I always root for the "underdog" and love it when they have success. Even if it is short lived. I'm still voting "No". |

see i hear what you saying but if a guy only has an 1.8 miles to run his car should be tuned for the 1/8 mile.... meaning having the correct gear to still pull thru the lights... |
