85ft lbs is fine that's why your able to torque the studs more because they are stronger than the stock stuff. I lubed everything as well as the hand tightening part but not sure if that's proper procedure or not hopefully someone else chimes in about that. Kev |

I see no reason to use the thread lubricant on the threading of the studs into the block. Arp Torque values are for their bolts / studs / application so if you are using stock bolts then use that value. If using arp with the correct thread lubricant in the threads and under the bolt heads and washers then torque to arp specs. it will work out okay, Greg |

If the block threads are blind, then no sealer or lube is required. If the block threads penetrate into the water jacket, then a thread sealer(like silicon)is needed to prevent leaks, oil will not seal the threads. Stock build specs only apply when using stock OEM components and when building stock engines. Once you begin replacing parts with aftermarket components, stock specs no longer apply to those components or engines, and you must follow the manufacturers methods and recommendations at this point. |

Thanks for the advice fellas , it's going back together today . In the instructions it says equal torque steps up to 80 ft lbs . What do you class that as ? |

You could do 40,60,85 or whatever ya want I did like five steps up to 85lbs on my last arp studs lol That is just so you don't crank on corner of the was down to 85 lbs or something the incremental torque steps would ensure the whole head is getting squashed evenly across the board. I probably did something like 20,40,60,80,85 if memory serves Kev |

This might help someone . Unless the studs go into a water jacket use the lube on the threads into the block, if they go into a water jacket use an automotive thread sealer on those threads. As for steps, 25, 50 and then 80 is ideal. Also 80 ft. lbs. is not too much torque for the application. Regards, Zac Kimball Automotive Racing Products (805) 339-2200 ext. 206 |

I talked with Alex today. The studs are in final inspection and will be shipped within the next 48 hours. I should get them by the end of the week. I'll let everyone know what the total bill is and their share of the cost when they ship. I forgot to tell Mike H he is in too as they got the extra sets done in time to make the rest of the order. |

The studs are on their way. Not enough studs passed inspection to fill the order. They are several short. I told them to ship what they had and worry about the rest later. |
