Quote: Any luck with the stroker numbers Doug?
I am back into a "I don't really like any of them" numbers crunch.CJ The RV15M-212/.295 would be a good "mild performance" choice but it's going to be a little short on high RPM flow. A 270 In with the 260 Ex is OK, I am not real thrilled with the Erson profiles when used on the exhaust side of a mechanical cam, these profiles dont have the long lash ramp shape an exhaust lobe needs. We are kind of stuck with these two unless we can find a more aggresive, "long ramp" exhaust lobe to "hand-off to Erson. DD |

I hope some still are available. My buddy said since we have the head off, maybe we should do this cam now. I am waiting for him to give me a green light, as he would be doing the work. If so, I guess I am looking at the 301 cam and lifters. I would love the sound of a cam, and I know that one won't have that, but who cares? If it makes a difference that I can feel, it won't matter. Would the 621 be okay? All I have right now is the super six setup. And the head work will give my compression at 9.0. No headers, but 2.25" pipe and turbo mufffler. If my buddy says - green light, I will be ordering one of these. |

This deal is still active so order soon. I plan on talking to Tom at this weekend's Las Vegas race to see if they will make some custom lobe masters for a "next step" SL6 cam. DD |

I talked to Tom today and he said he has duplicated the cams that Doug sent him, so those are also available for order. So for those of you that have been wanting a dual pattern "in between" cam, you can get it now. Thanks goes to Doug for making that all happen. MJ |

My RV15m-212/.295 arrived about a week ago. It looks great. I ordered springs and retainers as well and the fit of the retainers is good and they look like they will clear the rockers nicely. Can't wait to get it all together and drive it. I just need to scrounge up an 8.25 and some 3.21 gears now! Thanks again for the time and effort given to make this happen. |

From what I read Rotella will still have plenty of anti-scuff stuff in it for a gas motor. There are 2 types. I bought several cases of Valvoline 15-40 Super Blue diesel oil which has gobs of specs for military etc. Plenty-O-Zinc! Flying J had it on sale for $11.99 for 2 gallons No limit. So I bought a bunch. I put some in my 198 before I went to Bowling Green. GM EOS maybe NS-1. They may have quit selling it. A viable alternative would be STP oil stabilizer. (white bottle with pointy tip) The stabilizer is not shown either! It was an available topic of discussion for emailing them from their drop down email subject menu. I just emailed them and expect to be contacted within 48 hours. If I remember correctly regular STP had some zinc. I am wodering if that that may have been reduced. |

I just got done ordering one. I went with the RV that Doug came up with, the 266*/254* advertised. I'm stockpiling parts for a rebuild at a later date, at that price it's kinda hard to blow off. I just hope it turns out good. |

Post subject: | Ordered the smaller grind today |
After consulting with DougD and not wanting to miss out on the Erson group buy, I spoke with Tom over at Erson and ordered the smaller of the two grinds courtesy Mr Visa. I also got the valve springs, retainers and lifters. I'll probably just get a timing set from Hughes to finish it off. I'm waiting for the big valves to get posted on Ebay so I can get a set of them in preparation for doing the head later this year or early next. In the mean while, i'll see a bunch of you folks over at the Redwood City Slant 6 meet this coming Sunday. |
