It certainly looks like we'll have some all time Slant 6 doorslammer records shattered next year between Davis' and Burns' new combos. I'm not sure there has been a confirmed sub-6s 1/8th mile run ever.

Great work, Howard and Jason. We all thank you for pushing the envelope!

Cheers,

Lou

I forgot (once again) to ask Howard what displacement this engine is.

So, the 1.6+ HP per Cubic Inch statement from a couple months back is still a little ambiguous, ain't it..?

Howard said the car was "In the 6's..."

When I asked for clarification on that it was "High 6's."

So, I just kinda took that there photo opportunity to throw a little more speculation out there fer all y'all speculators.

You can still speculate a little using a generic 6.99 @ 2700# knowing that it's actually a little quicker and heavier than that (and that there is still some more in it  ).

Don't worry Scott. Howard hasn't found the "Holy Grail" of Slant 6 performance in this new head and has no plans to mass market it to recoup his initial "Million Dollar" investment...

Still, ... His 11.27 C/Alcohol record should be re-set into the 10's in 2013.

Ain't this fun!? :D

Post subject:  Found another tenth! :-)

Howard didn't make it to Clay City for any 1/4 mile testing, but he did make it to Ohio Valley for some 1/8 mile.

They picked up another tenth! :D

When I asked him what the best ET was now he replied:

"Oh, it feels pretty good now and we picked up that tenth from the last time out..."

I guess that's why he didn't call me to let me know he'd be at Ohio Valley 45 minutes away... He's keepin' his cards close to his chest until spring time.

Plans for the winter are an even looser converter (testing showed that this new motor really wants to be let loose! ) and going through the ignition system just to make sure there isn't anything there that is potentially holding it back.

We talked a little about stall speeds and cam lifts... The numbers made my ears ring and I asked him if I could post those numbers here.

His reply:

"Ah, most of those guys wouldn't believe it anyway..."

I love talking to Howard and his no nonsense approach to doing things his own way.

Tune in again in the Spring of 2013 as we anxiously await the official unveiling of the world's first Slant 6 billet aluminum head engine!

I'm Rob "Snagglepuss" Simmons, your Slant 6 "Laff-A-Lympics" Drag Racing commentator, with the latest progress in this cutting edge technology.

2013 is going to be a good year for low ETs on the East Coast with Howard's new engine coming together and Will Burns' new turbo engine getting sorted out! :D

Post subject:  Got an email from Howard this morning... :-)

Looks like Howard has changed his injection set up for this year.

He had to cut a hole in his fiberglass cowl induction hood, but I think it looks cool this way! :D
