With the standard ARP head studs guys (okay at least 1 guy) running a lot of boost was lifting the head just enough to lose water. Another guy blew a copper head gasket. Those are the 2 failures I'm familiar with. If I can't get a set myself or get enough people together for a group buy I'll probably use the standard studs as I don't plan on that much boost. |

The 200,000 lbs rated studs are actually only rated for about 180,000 lbs and they stretch under high boost pressures. One of the reasons they stretch is because they are only 7/16. If you aren't going to use a lot of boost the standard ones should be fine. I'm not sure of where the boost pressure limit is but, if your pushing close to 30 lbs I would spend the extra money or try to get a group buy to get the cost down.

19psi aided with some detonation helped my copper gasket and two pistons into the grave lol I was rebuilding and figured mine as well upgrade anything that will help longevity I'm all about! Kev |
