For reference, this head should flow at least 200 CFM intake and 160-170 CFM exhaust out of the box to be competitive with well ported stock heads. A few have seen numbers as high as 225-230 intake with a moved (toward center) intake valve and smaller exh valve, but 200-210 CFM is as much as most highly ported heads can flow.

Those were going to be my goals as well to obtain for an entry level head out of the box on the low end flow numbers with stock sized small valves, and then well beyond on the high side end of flow with larger valves and a fully competition ported head.

[quote="kesteb"]Who ended up with the Argentinian racing head? This would be a "proven" modification. Use that for the pattern and the price point becomes more reasonable.

These prototypes, only to racers, any floating on CL SA?

I think Mopar Frank still has it.

I think you are right, but were there any more? Was this one of one? How did it show up in the USA? Is it worth risking my life in SA looking in scrap yards and swap meets?

The guy in Arkansas originally imported it. IIRC, it has been flowed and results weren't spectacular. I think the chamber shape was the big thing, but I may be full of crap.

That head was based on a regular casting although I believe the quench area was built up by welding as several others have done. The people at Sharadon said it didn't flow as good as the one on Steve Nitti's Duster. There are some postings on the site somewhere, maybe gone after last year's crash, from Argentina telling of the extensive racing development done in the past with assistance from the factory down there. They told of special block and head castings that were available to facilitate modifications. As I remember the racing rules down there favored high revving 170 based motors that produced fantastic levels of power. Apparently slant 6s were very competitive down there at some time in the past. Maybe somebody on the site has better information about all of this. You would think there might even be books that deal with racing at that time that give more details, there are certainly a lot of books from Australia about sedan racing and the role of Aussie A bodies.

Yes, I have the head and it doesn't flow as good as Nitti's head but it does flow good. The main difference in the head is the quenching area has been welded in and machined. We will soon see what the engine puts out with the head as I have a dyno appointment for next week.

Does it have a kidney shape to the chamber?

I'm not sure if it's the same one I posted a couple of pics on FABO of, that one was fast-burn heart-shaped, and was a unique casting(foreign). Said "Tahuille" or something like that on the head. Photobucket deep-six'd those images I'm sure,....I thought it was the Member here's,.. polara1974, the ports "looked" nice in the images......but that ain't what counts so..........that chamber would be really effective only if the piston were at 0r near -0- deck.

The chamber was like a 318 swirl port head.

I have seen chambers done like that on a race head done here. Lots of welding, but supposedly made great gains in power.

It is like the pic Stan posted. It is not going on a race engine at least not yet. It will hopefully be a powerful street engine to put in one of my Lancers. It has 14/1 compression ratio and will run on E-85. It is N/A and has a cam that hopefully will be streetable. The transmission has been beefed up but still maintains the pushbuttons and stock shifting. I will be putting on a Holly Sniper fuel injection to start with and see what happens. I have an Aussie Speed long ram multi-port fuel injection intake that I can put on if I don't like the Holly.
