The biggest advantage of a "3 & 3" exhaust system is that the firing order allows more time between exhaust pulses, the next "shot" is always in the other manifold. This really helps reduce back pressure at high RPMs.

But I've always wondered how the "dead air" affects scavenging and overall flow... Any thoughts?

8) I dug through my hyper-pak service bulletins that were given to me from my next door neighbor who worked in the race program for chrysler
and researched the exhaust system that was used on the original hyper-paks and if you bought the complete hyper pak package from the parts dept you got the split shorty cast iron manifolds that dumped into a single exhaust that measured 2-1/4 inches and was equipped with an Imperial muffler that exited out the rear bumper with a chrome tip.

Jerry, it sounds like you are telling me is that the original HyperPak intake manifold came with a mounting boss to attach the stock exhaust manifold. I thought that it only came with the cast iron shorty exhaust manifolds.

I presume that the Clifford reproduction manifold doesn't come with an exhaust manifold mounting boss. I think their philosphy requires all upgrades to include headers. If that's the case, then you would probably need to cut off the heat riser portion of the stock single exhaust manifold and seal it with a welded-on plate to use their manifold.

8) Frank Thats Exactly what I was Trying To Get Across Was The Factory Hyper Pak Had Mounting Bosses Underneath The Intake For Mounting The Factory Stock Exhaust Manifolds To It To Give The Carb Plenty Of Heat.
I have A Nice Picture Of The Original With A Factory Manifold Bolted Up To The Intake In The Hyper-Pak Service Manual.
I'm Not Sure How Many People Know, But You Can Use All Slant Six Factory Exhaust Manifolds With Cliffords Hyper-Pak Intake As Well.
The Only Modifying Was Putting A Block Off Plate To Cover The Opening, I Just Welded A Piece Of A Steel Plate To The Top To Seal It Tight.
My Neighbor Has An Original Hyper-Pak Intake As Well As The Factory Cast Iron Shorty Manifolds And The Factory Cast Iron Manifolds.
I Was Very Fortunate To Have My Neighbor Old School Me On alot Of Secrets That Chrysler Used When Building The Hyper-Pak.
