Image Yes yes, you just sunk my battleship you hero u.

OK, if it's electronic (are they in Mexico? Probably are...) youd want to look at the pickup and line up the starwheel in the center with the points in the outer ring. I havent actually seen a Chrysler pickup so thats all I can tell ya. If you can line it up that way it should be good enough to get it to run so you can dial it in. 8)

my damper has slipped. it is off by at least 12*. I have my timing mark at 0* and it still has a slight ping when I hammer it to the floor when cruising at highway speeds. Thats what you get from turning the engine over by hand with the plugs installed and cranking pressures of 155-165psi.
Any hoo, if you suddenly have a pinging problem( with no adjustments anywhere) I would think your timing chain has jumped a tooth.
I'm not going to worry much about mine right now since I have a rebuilt shortblock waiting to be installed this spring.

Thanks steponme, I'll try to do everything adviced, and yes, my car has electronic ignition, since 73 at least all Slants in Mexico were so equipped, not sure about the other Chrysler engines... I think all were... actually I think the only big difference in Mexican cars compared with their US counterparts was the lack of cathalitic converters until 1990...

And regarding electronic ingnition... I've noticed that the ballast resistor is hot... but I mean REALLY HOT  ; never noticed it before and don't know if it is normal... should I replace the part before it burns?. You can cook some tacos in the ceramic housing...
