... it's a regrinded core.
Who knows what lobe profile the cam grinder used, my guess is that they used a Chebby hydraulic lobe profile and ground that onto you SL6 cam core.

Don't feel bad, I have tried many different cams over the years... some work better then others.

To this day I still do other custom cam grinds and try them in different engine combinations, one thing is for sure... there is no "best cam", it is really a matter of finding a good compromise for your combination of engine, trans, rear gear, car weight and driving style..

I do feel bad cuz maybe (yeah sure, maybe) it's my fault to have such a bitchy cam profile. I asked the guy for a tight lash (quick short ramp) profile. The truth is while I like how my mill respond to this very cam lashed tight, It does feels like "coming in" after 1800-2000 rpm... First thing I'm checking is centerline. Maybe I can advance the cam and I get away with it w/o replacing the cam. If advancing it ain't do the job, I may need to buy another cam. My car's a 109" wheelbase A-body, diffent sheet metal but dart 67 chassis, 3000 lbs, 3.07:1 rear axle ratio (Dana 44 - 8 1/4??) wich I'm willing to trade in for a 3.31:1 ratio, the only power robbing device I have on the crank is power steering. My driving profile is gramma's style till I get mad and wanna rev the living crap outta her :) My dist is recurved, I'm running 15 BTDC initial 28 total mech @ ~2750 rpm and a 8.5 vac pod.
