I do not have a jet/rod kit. I do, however, have a few rods and a few jets, along with the spring kit. I set the idle mixture, but I'm not sure how to check the cruise or power mixture without an air fuel ratio gauge. Someone told me I could run up the rpms on the freeway, turn the engine off, pull over to the side, and pull out a plug. I know that white = lean, and black = rich, and grey = good mixture.

I also read that having the cam slightly retarded gives more peak power. I am not too worried about having less on the low end because I have 3.73's in the rear.

As far as the distributor goes, I think that I will start with the springs. I heard that I can get different springs at the auto parts store. Does this sound right, or do I have to get them off of another distributor?

Thanks.
