I wish you would have waited for a few more weeks to ask your question. By then, I hope to have some good input for you. Tuesday, we hauled my son's '74 Dart Sport to the paint shop, and as soon as we get it back, we'll be putting all the interior back together. We've had the engine running for a while now, but no way to get it out on the road to run it through its paces.

It has the Comp Cams 264S-10, Super Six with Carter BBD, and 2.25" single exhaust through a generic knock-off to the Flowmaster 40. We are VERY pleased with the sound it makes. We haven't finely tuned it yet. It needs more valve lash adjusting (should have read the cam card, instead of setting them to stock specs). I need to get a vacuum gauge and go through the timing and carb adjustments.

We are very anxious to get her out on the road and see what she can do. It still has the 2.76:1 7.25" rear, 904 automatic, and stock convertor. There will be some necessary shift linkage and kickdown adjustments, but I think Aaron will be peeing down both legs when we get it all dialed in.

I'm kicking myself now for not doing the head work like you're doing. Our focus was to get it running, and we just ran out of time. Besides, I don't know how to do it, and I need to go through the learning process. I'll probably wind up getting another head and take my time learning on it, then swap it over later.

I'll keep you posted on our satisfaction with the CC 264, once we have the opportunity to form an opinion.

Jerry

Heck, T,C., I want mine to sound like a sickly fourbanger 'till I stand on it and leave 'em wondering on my dust!

74 Sport: Does it have a V8 type sound to it? Mine is completly stock right now but i put a cherrybomb on it and didnt install the rest of the pipe and i think it sounds pretty decent for having a tiny exhaust and regular manifolds. When its cold it sounds good at idle but once it warms up u cant really hear it at idle, at least from the inside u cant. But once i put a lil gas on it, it sounds deep. Ive always kinda thought it sounded like a tired V8 :) but a V8 none the less. Ill tell u this much about it, I havent had 1 challenge since i put this muffler on it so i think ive fooled some people. Even other people tell me they think its a V8 and that was the idea. I would like for it to sound more like an 8 at idle. Really though Sport, it sounds to me like we have the same setup ultimatly so id really be interested to see how yours peforms and that would give me a decent idea of what id see out of mine. Cause really the only difference is that im going to port the head and I just happen to have a lil deeper gear in the back (2.94 to 2.76) which im sure u couldnt tell the difference between them anyway. But do keep in touch with me man and thanks for posting:)

64ragtop: Yeah im the opposite. Id like em to think its a V8, blow their doors off and show em a lowly 6 just burned em. Thats cool to me :) But ill bet uve proven a few people wrong to huh? :)
