The Weber DGV/32-36/Holley 5200 carb flows 280 CFM, about exactly the same as a Carter BBD. I suggest getting a spare one barrel intake and boring it out and redrilling the carb mounting holes to accept the two barrel pattern.

The main advantage to the holley 5200/Weber DGV over the BBD is that it is a staged two barrel with the potential for better gas mileage. It would take a bit more fabbing to put on your slant, especially the kickdown linkage, but as you have mentioned is very doable.

Sure its easier to start with a two barrel intake, but if you are cheap (like me) and have a couple extra one barrel intakes lying around (like me) or just can't find a reasonably priced two barrel intake then it is relatively easy to spend a weekend with an angle grinder, dremel tool, welder, and tap and die set and fab up your own custom two barrel intake from a one barrel. No need to get snippy.

Seems like I read somewhere about someone adapting a single intake to a double. I can't remeber where saw this. Can you help. Part of this whole Weber thing is that intrigues me.

I can't imagine me ever using WOT unless was running from a nuclear blast or a tsunami, and then I'd just be stuck in a traffic jam.

There is actually a writeup of this procedure in an old Slant Six News. Give me a couple days and I will scan it and post it for you. THe writeup was done to adapt a Holley 2300 to a stock one barrel maifold, but the principles are the same for the Weber/Holley 5200, just a different bolt pattern.

ats off to Mr. york for writing this article and submitting it to the old Slant 6 News, but the pictures were fuzzy and he forgot to mention how he fastened the adapter to the intake. I am guessing that he used some self-drilling screws and epoxied and screwed the adapter to te intake. That is what I would recommend.

If you have a welder and are handy with it you could also use this method to fabricate a four barrel intake manifold from a one barrel using some scrap flat iron.

Oh, wow, I haven't seen that article in <i>many</i> years! Think it's in Slant-6 News number 32, dark blue/purple cover, Station Wagons and three different 2bbl conversions. My collection of those magazines is stored about 3,500 miles away...I rode in Dave York's car after that conversion. It ran well.

This is super. I like mods like this. When I was a young, before I could drive, the hot rodders just built and finagled their parts togethor. I know that it is convientent to call Summit, but many of us lost our creativity. I think when a guy does stuff like this he learns what he's doing.

Reed, can you email this to me. I can't read the print on my laptop. I don't know if it'll make any difference from the original scan, but I can play with it on Photoshop.

Pat- you should be able to right-click (in windows) or control-click (on a Mac) and download the pictures to your desktop and then work with them from there. Or:

Looks like I was wrong- the carb was a BBD. Doesn't really matter, the principle is the same. Now maybe people will find a use for all the extra one barrel intakes they have laying around.
