So, in your opinion is my needle indicating too much charging when it stays steady at 3/4 tank position?
I'm probably best off taking the battery to my brothers for a trickle charge to see if the battery will hold a full charge right??

No, you don't need a trickle charge (that's for keeping a battery charged when it's not in use for long periods of time). You need the battery charged. Takes a few hours at a sane charging rate. Any service station (if you still have those) or auto repair shop will be able to charge the battery if you take it to them.
Please don't take it personally, but I make a habit of not repeating myself in a thread unless it's absolutely necessary for some reason.
