Yes.

Individually each CV40 carb is good for about 100hp on a harley
A Mikuni 42 is good for about 120. (running 6 of either, that carb isn't the limitation, which is why I said they'd produce the same power)

A Mikuni might be a little big for one cylinder. The CV40 has been used on the 1 cylinder Blasts (492cc) and is the standard carb for up to 1450cc. Mikunis are generally only used on 1200cc and above.

So driveability wise, with 6 carbs, I think your better off with the CV40. Plus people usually take them off and you should be able to get them cheaper.

I'm using small mikunis (like 36 mm throat) and they're constant velocity too! the beauty of mikunis is that I can get them down here (and replcement parts too, CV40's are scarce down here, like BBD's)
also they can be piled up in racks prepared to sync the throttle levers! I'm going to be working on this for more than several months, I'm swapping them in when I'm 90% sure it's gonna work.

Around here CV40s are common. Mikuni 42s are the performance upgrade.


I'm not sure that the mikuni 36 is a CV carb. Looks like the throttle moves the piston for the throttle. The CV carbs have a seperate butterfly valve for the throttle, and the piston moves in response to airflow volume.
