I went out to the car to write down the part number of the aluminum manifold and noticed the aluminum heat deflector is covering the part number.
D'OH! Okeh, I can wait for casting number. The pic reminds me of the Mopar Performance "M1" aluminum 2bbl intake I have on my '62.

What carb is on your 71? running what jet and what choke setting? If your running a richer setup, that could be true with the cast iron.
Three different carbs over the last 9 months, for various experimental and comparison purposes:

-New Holley Economaster R7586 with #55 jet
-New Carter BBS 4956s (1971 198/auto carb), stock jet
-Rebuilt Stromberg WA3-219 (1963 225/auto carb), stock jet

Choke pushrod is mangled (somebody in the car's past tried to "adjust" it by bending the rod  ) but it's about the right length, for the engine doesn't load up, false-start, or stall out when cold.

All three of these carbs had their particular behavioural quirks (as all carbs do) but all of them gave good cold start and drive-off performance.

That is a nice looking car Ted. I just noticed you have added a shot of the rear... when do we get to see the front?

Well, I have an Offy aluminum intake on my slant, works just fine to me. I have a 2bbl carb on it, and I had the intake "jet-Hot" coated. I like it mostly for its looks, but less weight doesn't hurt.

Danny,

Just added two more shots so you can see the front and side view. It's a work in progress. All the running gear is newly rebuilt except the 904 and torque converter. It is a few miles short of 400,000. Still shifts strong. New springs, 8 3/4 out of a Imperial, and Doc's recipe for a 160 HP torque motor to turn the 2.76 gears, 60 mph at 2500 rpm. This summer, if we ever get passed winter brings a new paint job. It had a vinyl top but thinking of painting it all yellow banana. Interior is all black.

Wes,

As soon as we get some good weather I am installing a aluminum Weiand four barrel intake with one of Reed's Holley 4360 four barrel Economaster mileage carbs. I also have a Super Six Carter BBD and adapter ready to go on the intake if the four barrel doesn't work out.

Ted,

I like vinyl tops and painted tops so it would probably be a hard decision for me. I think it will look good either way though.

If it helps I have one of these and plan to swap it for the cast iron on my Valaint for the weight savings. It weighs maybe 10 lbs if that. It got it off of an '80's truck...don't remember exactly. Looking at the top, the number 1 runner says " do not overtighten manifold nuts 10 ft-lb maximum " and the number 6 runner has 2 threaded bosses for vacuum access. It is also an EGR intake. Now looking at the bottom the numbers are as such on the number 2 runner it says "11A1586" and under runner number 1 it says "4227888" with the number "11596" just below it next to that the chrysler pentastar then the casting co info ACE/CO and then an alph/numeric resembling a number 1. It is definately a one piece aluminum, 1 barrel intake.
Hope that helps, Nico

I like vinyl tops. i thikn the car would look great with a new black top. Or with a black "krinckle finish" pseudo-vinyl top to avoid rust issues.

I got a peek at Ted's intake today- it looks the same as the one piece aluminum, one barrel intake that was stock on a 1986 Dodge van I had. Very nice, lightweight casting.

Wait a sec...Ted, isn't yours a 2bbl setup? If so, we now have a 1bbl intake (Valleyant's) and a 2bbl intake (yours) with the same casting number.

Dan,

Still running the Economaster that had the potted low speed air bleed that you posted for me awhile back. Argentine Juan had helped me rework the carb for more power on this engine rebuild, Doc's 160 HP reciepe.

Here is part of my old post for reference........

Specifications on the R7585 1920 Holley Economaster

When I was burning up the tires with the 2.76 posi I was running a #61-2 which is a .060 diam. hole factory tuned half way between a #61 and #62.
Idle air bleed: .035 which is the same as a #65 drill bit.
The idle mixture hole: .09375, 3/32 in diameter.
The accelerator pump hole: .035 in diameter.
Idle mixture screw: 2 3/8 turns out set at 750 rpm out of gear at 18" vacuum, 600 rpm in gear @ 16" vacuum
All rebuild parts were purchased from:
JOES CARBURETORS INCORPORATED, 425-774-5504. 5516 Pl SW 186th Lynnwood, WA 98036

Currently the 1920 carb has a #56 jet in it which nets the good gas mileage. It is good for considering the poor driving conditions and all the stop and go this winter.

I have a Carter BBD and a two barrel adapter for the Weiand four barrel manifold ready and the Super Six kick down linkage and carb base.

I got a Holley 4360 Economaster 450 CFM four barrel from Reed yesterday that I am planning to install next. It is a very interesting carb and has allot of unusual features that may lead to some excellent mileage and performance.

I would like to unleash the potential of this motor. It would be fun to see what it can do even though my car is very heavy and has a hitch from hell. The car weighs 3380 lbs with a full tank, 3600 lbs with me in it. Book specs show up to 3180 lbs. in 1974. My son keeps bugging me to run with him at Puget Sound Raceways this year. I am planning to make a few passes just for fun to see what the one barrel will do vs the BBD and the Holley 4360. It should be an interesting year.
