My web search only turns up SA sights for this carb, sounds like a potential alternative if we can get them, what about cost/parts.

Thanks

Well, this line of staged 2 barrels were used by:

peugeot
renault
chevrolet
ford

say, all the local automotive manufacturers. These carbs started in the early '70s as OEM peugeot "peppy" cars. Then renault started to use them, and then after mid '80s the "big" american companies that still were on the argentinian market started to use them for our falcon "economax" motor and silverado chevy truck.

parts are more than easy to find, costs are "normal", say, a complete rebuild kit cost me about US$ 40 (new emulsion tubes, idle circuit meters, float and seat, gaskets & diaphragms, 2 extra gaskets for the base adaptor, 4 diffrent set of matching idle bleeds, new jets, new power valvle thing, new accel pump checkball valvle, good rubber gsaket fot the still yet to come air cleaner assy.

carb price new is US$ 220 (New, not reman) and the best choice for a slant is the chevy silverado one (230 CI and kinda "slanty" fetures)
If you want it with air condition provision (sort of a vac pod that raises rpm if your ac is on) is US$ 250 (due to extra hardware)

compared to the holley/weber 5200... they kick ass. webers are for noisy little red italian cars

:)

This thing is in my 1987 caravan is FINE except for cold hard starts, choke is working BTW.

Question, is that newer carb even as good as weber 36DGEV compatiable with this type I have, and would cost over 300+ dollars

Cheers, Wizard
