About a pound a 741 case has a 1.50 pinion diameter. the 742 case has a 1.750 straight diameter and the 489 case has a 1.875 tapered pinion. All three will interchange but some combo gear sets wont. Aint that right Charlie. Thanks Ron Parker :D

Carrigan,

Even though I swapped to a 489 case to get Sure Grip, the 741 pig is a fine piece of work. Mine was in a truck that worked hard and was torquing the 741 against some serious loads at times. Only reason (well ego played a part too) I swapped was I built a seriously improved motor and am toying with the idea of using a blower on it. In a car, even with a improved engine, a 741 should do well. I like the 741 so much I kept my pig for good luck. Be SURE you put in the mopar sure grip lube once when you swap.
