The weather is looking better and better. 75 Friday and Saturday and only a 10% cahnce of rain.

Looks to be a beautiful Carolina day on Saturday.

Cant wait to see everyone there - parking will be in the same spot as always so if you get there for TnT on Friday feel free to park there.

Tom

We had a total of 15 cars show up and make the first round!(2 shy of a 50 point race) There was not one single car that was unable to make the first round.

Couple of new faces( at least to me) and few regulars absent. Dave Mote showed up with his 1977 Aspen with the Proline set-up. Running high 11's and still more there with a better tune-up. Dave made it to the second round by taking out Seymour in the first. Nice job Dave and we hope to see you at a few more races this year.

The other racers were:
Brian Mimken
Derrick Daugherty
Ron Hamby
Rodney Hargis
Michael Glass
Barry Harrison
Ron Parker
Norm Foster
Judy Drake
Tom Drake
Leighton Drake
Seymour Pederson
Jack Parlier with his Aspen Wagon
Meril Bruner

Meril lucked out on the draw by getting the first round bye run. Other noteable first round pairings were Ron Parker vs Ron Hamby, Norm Foster vs Leighton Drake.

When the dust settled from the first two rounds there were two footbrakers and two button releasers left. Rodney Hargis ran Leighton Drake for one spot in the final with Rodney using a nice .001 light to squeeze by Leighton. Barry Harrison and Tom Drake faced off in the second pairing with Tom also cutting a .001 light.

So Rodney "The Footbrake King" Hargis faced Tom "The Turbo" Drake in the finals. The thought of that .001 light must have been in Rodneys mind because he had a very uncharacteristic .075 light and Tom leaving shortly behind had a .025 light. The top end WAS TIGHT with Tom crossing the line just .004 ahead to take the win.

Norm Foster set an open A-alcohol record earing an extra $50 and Ron Hamby lowered his existing record to earn an additional $100. Since I was one of the semi-finalist I up each of the other racers an additional $50.
Barry and Leighton each earned $150 for their semi-final finish and Rodney took home $250.

I want to thank all of the racers who attended this race. You guys are what make this race a success and I have already had two emails from club members thanking us for showing up and running our part of the show so smoothly. Seymour shot a lot of pictures and I am sure they will be in the next newsletter.
Again thanks for the support and I hope all of you can make Piedmont in the fall.

Tom Drake

Glad to hear it was a great race, and sorry I/we couldn't make it over.

Huge congrats to Tom on the win. Glad we had some new faces too.

See y'all soon!
