One more thing,am I supposed to shave off those "nubs" on the back of the hei module,to allow it to sit flat? or does it matter?

I think I found a better place to mount it,on the underhood part of the right fender, where the jack tools used to be stored.

Those nubs might be preventing the unit form grounding since it grounds on the back of the unit.

Most of the HEI modules have a rivet on at least one of the bolt holes that will allow them to ground even if the rear metal plate isn't making a solid ground, but that rear metal plate is intended as a ground and, more importantly, the rear metal plate needs to be in solid contact with a heat sink (piece of aluminum and fender), and you need to use the heat-conductive grease that comes with a new module between that back plate and the mounting surface, otherwise the module will heat up and burn out.

Oh,at first I was under the impression that the metal parts in each screw hole were the ground. OK, so I guess I'm removing those nubs. As for the heat sink,is that similar to dielectric grease?

No, it's different, not the same as dielectric grease. See Here or here.

Did you run a ground wire to the ground grommet on the module, or are you relying on sheetmetal for ground?

Man,finding heat sink around here is proving to be a chore... I tried two auto parts places and both only had dielectric. I'll probably end up ordering it from one of those sites.

Try Radio Shack (or equivalent)

I was thinking maybe they'd have it,I'll have to stop in one tomorrow during my lunch break,if there's one nearby...

Yes,I found one this morning and got myself a tube of it. Now hopefully this weekend I can finally get this swap done....

For future reference, Borg Warner actually sells heatsink compound in little one use packets, I believe the part number is something like CL6 (but don't quote me on that.) It should be referenced in their catalog when you look up the HEI module. I would assume other ignition component manufacturers do the same.
