Hang in there and keep plugging away at it. As frustrating as these old cars can be, imagine what it would be like trying to diagnose a random code on your wifes honda.

Thanks, guys. After my miserable evening and embarrassing online vent session, I expected to walk in this morning to a blast-fest. Thanks for your vast patience with me.

And thanks for the booster source, Dan (and it's relatively cheap!). But no, I've seen a picture of you, ( :) ) and although YOU don't need power brakes, myself, my petite wife, and (in a few years) my daughter, DO. Especially on a drum brake car, and a disk conversion is a while away.

Again, I appreciate the support.

Okay, I checked with Booster Dewey. Two issues: there's a 3-4 turnaround, and they don't take credit cards (needless to say, he didn't have a core). So with shipping each way, we're talking 2 weeks, and I won't have cash until next Friday.

I really need to have the car back on the road ASAP, so I'm considering a rebuilt from RockAuto or Autozone, so that I can charge it and have it sooner. Would that be sacrilege, or is there a preferable alternative that's quick?

Hey, I'm TRYING to do it right! Why does the world hate me so?

I suggest getting one locally to tide you by - if you get a decent one great stay with it, if you don't it will buy you time until you can get yours sent out and done. Although its a hassle to keep taking it out and in, at least local places have lenient return policies.

Keep your core until you decide what your going to do with the parts store one.
