So would you recommend that I use the old 612 jet or the new #60 jet I bought?

To answer Doc above, I have a 2.76 gear ratio.

Post subject:  Back together

My carb is back together. The carb shop only charged me $28 for the rebushing job, much to my surprise. I ended up using the brand new #60 jet I bought from my local speed shop. Everything works great. The engine idles smooth, power is smooth, and while I don't have tons of power at WOT, it feels like the engine is doing all it can with a 1 bbl, rather than choking from an overlean mixture. I even managed to break the tires loose briefly on wet pavement.

A big box of parts from RockAuto has arrived, I will be doing an HEI conversion (using an LX-301) shortly, as well as a new timing set. I plan to swap to the NGK long nosed plugs when I do the HEI conversion. Engine mounts need to be replaced, and my rear springs are pretty much shot. I have my work cut out for me, but the newly rebuilt carb has helped out tremendously.

Thanks to all who posted. I appreciate your help!

I'm late to the party, but you have already done the right thing, and al is as good as it gets, next up after your conversions and timing set replacement, look for a complete super six setup off a Aspen/Volare (including the distributor) and be prepared for the response you are expecting out of WOT, and better mileage too...(eventually the 2.76's have to go...they are just, well not 'sporty' gears)
