If the kit came with a orange EI box and/or you can
put a allen wrench into the vac advance pod though
the vac line hole and adjust it > it's the HP type dist......
(pod is adjustable to give more or less advance depending
on vac signal, like if your running a high lift cam your
vac signal is often low at lower rpm, you can bump up the advance a little)

you stated that the distributor I have is curved wrong. Is this not a standard electronic distributor. I thought what I bought was stock. Is there a way to distinguish.
If you bought the Mopar Performance kit P3690789, it contained the distributor P3690788, which has an advance curve that is unsuitable for the street. On the other hand, if what you bought was actually somebody's "kit" of parts that they put together themselves to offer as an upgrade package on eBay, then perhaps you got a stock type distributor with a part number such as 3755042, 3874714, or something else, which would be more of a street-compatible unit. The P/N is usually stamped onto an aluminum tag screwed to the outside of the distributor body. It will be worth your while to find out what you're starting with, even if it means pulling the distributor to check.
