Yeah, my brother and I pulled an 8-1/4 from a 69 Charger that we stripped in a junkyard. The kit that I got from Randy's had all Timken bearings, the brand name on the kit was Yukon (I believe that brand is like a Randy's private label) but theirs is good stuff. Good phone support from them, too!

Oh yeah, 1 thing I just remembered, when I opened my kit it was missing the pinion shims, 1 phone call and 2 days later I had em in my hand, the only question they asked was who signed the inspection tag that was in the box saying it was all there.

let me ask you guys this, how much have you found a brand new unit like this one for? im kind of leary about buying something like this off of ebay from a complete strnger, but i cant afford to spend a ton of money at the same time. is it worth trying this set up if its not too expensive, or should i just bite the bullet and buy brand new?

well, i did a ton more searching, and i found a new oem unit for $220. about 500 cheaper then my local dodge dealer. im defenitely going that route, but what size ring gear/pinion do you guys recommend i get? im going to have a mild 225, street only. i was thinking 3.21's would work well, but i dont have a whole lot of experience with this type of stuff. id prefer to buy the ring and pinion from randy's since they have a good price on the bearing/seal masterkit, i just dont 100% which to pick. thanks a ton guys!

When I lived back east and the speed limit was 55 along with hilly terrain 3.23,or 3.55 was the way to go. Now living out west with 75 mph limits (and NO one drives under 80 ) they were pulled in favor of 2.76's. so I would say what will be the most of your driving ? In town or mostly freeways ? Driving it alot? or once or twice a month. Just a few thoughts for you to ponder........................

i drive my car constantly when the weather's nice and it wants to run well... i would say it would be mostly around town, but id probably make a few long distance trips from ny to pa for the carlisle mopar show every summer. im just looking for something that i can comfortably cruise in and occassionally lay some rubber when im out with my friends... or racing 4 door civics with 22's and more rot then my duster...
