The replacement of the check ball is interesting.

Hey Shaker223 did you get that info from Transgo?

Cheers

I would never use anything but Transgo, I used to use them in Ford C-4's when I was into Ford, and I've used the TF-2 in several Torqueflite 727's. Along with a few other mods, the Transgo kits have always given me a firm, sharp shift, and they don't stop band apply in 1st. gear. I find them fairly easy to install.

If one was to go full manual with a transgo kit, would the kickdown linkage need to be hooked up? I just helped a buddy install one of these and it seems like the KD is going to be used, but the instructions were not specific.

The reason I ask, is the last full manual I had did not require a KD.

Thanks,

sb

Trans-Go is unique in that they retain modulated line pressure through the use of the throttle pressure linkage. If you want your TF-3 kit to act like other full manual valve bodies you tie back the throttle pressure lever full rearward for full line pressure. If you want it to shift soft at part throttle and hard at full throttle then hook up the throttle pressure linkage.

I was never happy with how mine shifted. I put in a Cheetah (low band apply PRN321) but have yet to drive the car because the head is off

I've never went with a shift kit. I ve always done my super cheap torque flite mod. It literally wont cost you nothing but the fluid!

This mod isnt for those seeking a smooth shifting tranny. This mod made my 904 really work...nails 2nd like a b*^%#!!

1.Drop the pan ...really?

2. Remove all the bolts holding your valve body and drop it down. When you drop the valve body you see a medium sized black spring. Toss it out! This is called the accumilater(sp?) spring which softens the upshifts.

3.Bolt the valve body back up...

4.On the side of the valve body there is a black spring held by an allen head screw. Adjust it OUT about as far as it will go but be still on there (adjust it to where you see the spring stretching out instead of compressing it in). This is the line pressure adjustment. Dont adjust it out to far to where the spring and screw pop out

5. Slap in some el cheapo type f fluid and call it good!! The stuff from wal mart will do fine...

It is a testament to the engineering quality of the Torqueflite that it continues to function for a remarkably long time after being deliberately mutilated and abused.
