turns out I messed them both up a bit. Anyhow I will look at the local parts stores. I work at Home Depot and I know we dont have bolts of this size (diameter and length, coupled with thread type). But I might be able to find one at the autoparts store down the street, or a place in the next city over. I have options.

So, seat it fully, and bolt might not be necessary? I will attempt to find replacement since it will give me piece of mind.

Thanks for all the help and info.

Sounds like you're on the right track. It certainly won't hurt to have the bolt in there but it won't hurt to leave it out. Few slants actually ended up with bolts in them when they left the factory.

Caesar, you can also use abit of heat on the balancer. Just use one of those propane torches like a plumber has. Not alot of heat as you don't want to burn the rubber on the weight part. Just go around the center of balancer where it goes onto crank, round and round till it's hot. You don't what it so hot it buggers up the timing cover seal we're talkin just a thin red one here for clearance. I'f you try this remember "gloves" :) Also clean the inside bore of balancer with emerycloth so its nice and shiny. Good luck 8)

Hey man,

I make my own damper pull on bolts. I bought 2 feet of the proper threaded rod and cut off the right length. Jam two nuts on and you have the pull on tool. PM me with your email if you want a chunk of the rod. Polish the crankshaft end, polish the damper inside, apply a thin lube and damper just slides right on. I use a box wrench for one nut and a socket on a 24 inch breaker bar for the other so they don't spin around when getting started in or out. . You can tell when the damper is on far enough. It kinda bottoms out. Don't crush it any deeper in. Stopping the engine from turning? Leave it in gear and block the driving wheel.
