I'm in, those look great. How about those whacky Canadian Valiants that get the Dart rear treatment and come with the old style non-reduction gear starters that not only are not interchangeable with the standard flywheel that we are accustomed to but also cost a fortune.

Aw, those starters aren't so tough to deal with. They last a long time, and can easily and inexpensively be rebuilt by any competent auto starter/alternator guy, and while it's true they (and their corresponding ring gears) don't interchange with the gear reduction starter, there is actually enough interchange that starter availability isn't a problem. The "Auto-Lite" (Prestolite) MDT-6017 starter on the '63-'66 Canadian-market Slant-6s directly interchanges with the Prestolite MDT-7002 and MDT-7009 used on '60-'61 slant-6s worldwide (Lester number 3472, Dixie number S-5023), and if you add a starter relay, they can be replaced with the Chrysler-built direct-drive positive-shift starter #1889 100 used on various V8 and heavy-duty slant-6 applications in the US, Canada and Mexico from '61 through at least '71 (Lester 3248, Dixie S-3003), and with a couple of different starters made for the Australian market by Bosch Australia. Those Lester and Dixie numbers don't mean you should go out and buy a "remanufactured" piece o' crud, but it does greatly facilitate matters when you're calling around to auto electrical rebuilders in your area.

So where were you a year ago (probably here, but I wasn't) I bought a new one for over $200.00, of course they have the relay included ($20.00 value) It is funny when my Mopar friends here it fire up and there's no zingzingzingvroooom to be had. Thanks for the starter info, I may have to quote you at the next shop party.

Well, it's not the only decal idea I've been playing around with. Perhaps you've noticed that you can get all kinds of reproduction "MOPAR" underhood decals, but not the "CHRYCO" ones that came on Canadian Valiants. I'll see how the Valiant decal comes out, then maybe look at doing a small run of these:

I don't have any decals for a '74 Dart, but they are pretty widely available. Which ones are you after? I'll get you pointed in the right direction.

And since you raise the topic, I'll give an update on the decals we were talking about in this thread: I reviewed the proofs and sent colour specs to the decal printing outfit. Should be real soon now.
