What gives out first under boost? What kind of hp did you get? |

Stock 80k motor has not broke yet. 259rwhp and 345rwtq. I run it rich and have it intercooled. |

I think the Drakes went a little higher than that on boost. They killed a few head gaskets and pistons on the way though. There used to be another young guy (Andrew Wagner?) on here that was doing some turbo stuff. He knocked out rod bearings a couple times from detonation. Turbo is just like a supercharger or nitrous. When the tune-up is right, it's all good. When it's wrong, it's bad wrong. |

We will see pretty soon. I am glad to know some of the numbers. We have a factory 80k engine and one that has studs ported head and fordged pistons. We are going to see what thefactory engine will do. The car is set up right with good suspension and gears, tranny with brake. |

Biggest problem, I had was keeping out of detonation. Would break pistons, and blow head gaskets. Keep in mind, I did mine in the late '70's, when there was no such thing as a "boost timing master", and not much turbo info available. This was a street driver, and I needed advance in the distributer, for fuel milage, but needed to retard timing when boosted. I was using mechanical means, and it was trial and error (more error). |

I always lock the distributor down and let the ignition box take care of it. |
