Thanks guys, I just haven't seen anything posted so I wuz a wunderin'... No, I can't make it. I had big dreams of hopping on MAC flights and making a couple races this year, but that didn't happen either. I'll just keep living vicariously through all of my Slant 6 Racing Buddies! ![]() Does anyone know if Seymour is planning to attend? With all of the growing interest in the West I'm thinking that there may be some discussion about moving the annual banquet to a more central location... |

Talked with Seymore last night and he is not able to make the banquet this weekend. I will take the trophy to display at the meeting then bring it back home. Seymore and I discussed me bringing it to the Bowling Green Race and he will transport it to California when he goes this summer. All you Killer Bees dont get to happy about having the National Championship because all off us east coast guys are going to try our hardest to recapture that trophy. Hope to talk up a Midwest meeting between all the Western and Eastern racers. |

Have fun guys. I was trying to clear my schedule and drive over Saturday morning but I have to meet someone here to show them the two ovens I have for sale. Trying to get these moved out so I can put the new one in soon. Stay warm! Tom |

Post subject: | Banquet report |
Rob and all, The banquet was a bit quieter than usual, with some notables missing like Seymour and the Drakes. Decided to stay with current rules, as they seem to be ironed out. Thanks to Ron Hamby for presiding. We handed out prizes to the 4 (5?) racers at the banquet who were top 10 in point. Many congratulations and a big hand was given to our new champion - Glenn Terry. Norm Foster will carry the trophy to Bowling Green and hand off to Seymour who will carry it to CA. Lots of talk about trying to schedule races in the East in June and August, since there are none in those months. Clay City, KY, Paradise, GA, Radford, VA (me), and Knoxville, TN were brought up as possibilities. The BS was laid down pretty thick and heavy, with the GA boyz and Meril leading the charge. Dale had some harrowing stories about crashing sand dragsters and Ron P and Norm inspired James Longhurst and I to mount a Poulan Pro leaf blower on his 1970 225 1bbl Dart as a supercharger. Pull that cord on the starting line - vooopah, vooopah!! All in all, a great time. Wish we had more new faces there, but Brian Mimken and his Dad came and ate up the atmosphere. Brian stopped by James L's place and bought some parts for his new racecar with his yearly winnings. See y'all at the races this Spring!! Lou |
