Removing the flapper value also improves access to the center bolts. A pair of Dutras also makes it very easy to reach them.

yes, a set of the dutras will for sure be in order for this project when i get to that point. i may try splitting the exhaust myself, have pretty good welding skill. have split a few in my time, but never a slant six. not a whole lot of difference. there is a guy on ebay selling the exhaust outlets just for that purpose.
