You need to call Kramer Automotive and talk to Cindy. When I talked to her I only asked about the 64 Valiant rear gasket. She told me they don't have them.

Gary Goers did call me back. They have a 2pc rear gasket for the 64 Valiant for $85.00.

I am still trying to get in contact with the right person at Steele Rubber Products to get more info and possibly get something started.

H'mm. They used to advertise in Hemmings several years ago, but I can't find any current reference to them. Guess they've packed up and disappeared. :-(

I have had several conversations with Eddie Lail at Steele Rubber Products. He is the man who will make the decision of if and when they will tool up to produce a rear windshield gasket for the 64-65 Valiant. He already has an original gasket to use for tooling up.

This gasket is obviously a borderline product for them, he says they will make a decision sometime next week. They have not had many calls for this item. It would be a good idea for anyone on this site that may need a gasket now or in the future to call him and let him know of your interest. Call 800-447-0849, ask for Eddie and let him know. He is sympathetic to us slantsix nuts, he has been involved in racing slantsixes in the past.

I have called and talked to quite a few different people about this gasket and I don't feel positive about the prospects of anyone tooling up to make this gasket. For the immediate future Steele Rubber Products may be our only hope.

I did talk to Dave Junior at Restoration Specialties 814-467-9842. He said they would make one if he had an original gasket. If anybody is familiar with him and his company this may be a prospect. I don't have a gasket at this point in time, but if do get a complete one in the future I would send it to him.

I also talked to Derrick at Precison Replacement Parts 800-367-8241. They might tool up for this gasket in the future unless someone else does it first. Obviously there are only a few companies doing this type of work and they appear to know each other and puchase from each other. It's a bit of a waiting game, one company doesn't want to tool up on a part that another company is already working on or has plans for.

I know this post is not as optimistic as some I posted earlier. I was talking to the wrong person and I should have waited until I got the info from the person directly involved in making this decision before I posted some of the messages above.

When I get a definite yes or no from Eddie, I will post the info here. It will probably be about a week and a half.

By the way, Eddie told me that Steele Rubber Prods is working on a rear gasket for the late 60's, early 70's Dart. I don't recall the exact model years.

it's all good-- you are doing a great service for all of us -- plus giving the group an idea of the difficulties in getting a new -re-pop product. I thank you
Lawrence

PS: many other members also make great efforts to get/inform about product availability-- Thanks to you also

Do you have any news on the gasket?
A friend of mine is working on his -65 4door Valiant and is in dire need of a front and rear windshield gasket.
