My 63 Dart, stock 225 with 1 barrel, 904, 2.76 gears, and 235/60 r14 street tires will spin them easily. It will also spin them for over 300 feet in first gear at the drag strip.

What have you done to the car? My bone stock car will NOT spin the tires in a straight line, even if its wet. I redid my timing and points last night. Point gap set at .016 and timing at about 15 degrees. Any idea's why? Its not even a limited slip.

Sounds like your timing chain is worn out and stretched enough to absorb all the advance, if you cant bust them loose at 15 degrees. You should be getting at least 200 foot pounds of torque right off the bat.

Lash has a big effect on the slant's torque curve.....just another idea.

this might be a stupid question
but do you mean the valve lash?

The valve lifters are solid (mechanical) and the clearance (lash) needs to be set.
Have you ever done a valve (lash) adjustment on your SL6? If not, you need to do that.

Final drive ratio ( rear end ratio ) has a lot to do with it as does the type of transmission and the type and size of the rear tires.
