I got them off this morning! Now i have another problem. I have 5x4.5 on the front and 5x4 on the back. What is my easiest rear end swap for this car? Is there any late model car that i can use the rear end? I think this 87 diplomat is a bit wider than my duster, i dont think the rear will work. any thoughts? |

You can use an F/M body rear axle assembly, but the spring perches will need to be cut off and moved (or, preferably, new ones welded) inward. Careful with the rear axle ratio; most automatic F-bodies got 2.76, and most automatic M-bodies except cop cars got ridiculously tall ratios like 2.45 or 2.26. If you're going to the trouble, try for an 8¼", rather than a 7¼" rear axle. |

What did you do, and what are you planning to do?Quote: You can use an F/M body rear axle assembly, but ...
Don't forget they are wider, the ones I measure today were about 3" wider than an A-Body axle. Might be too wide, don't know.Definitely too wide for what I wanted. |
