Lucky13,

The headers in a cast version that they made never went into production because the engine made as much power with them and the 4 barrel setup as a 318 at the time and the big boys didn't want to spend the extra money.
So are we talking about the Hyper Pak Headers? Or something more exotic?

Yea the Super comps should make a great low RPM header setup. That is something I would like to see is a compairison of the SC header against the Mopar Performance header. I just cant understand what Mopar was doing when they designed a 6 into 1 header, was they onto something or did they go cheap. Mopar took there performance to heart back in a day, but I guess that wasnt the same people who done the designing of most of the MP parts.

What kinda intakes did MP ever offer, that might lend a clue to what they where intending out of the headers.

Jess,

Just the Hyper pack, long lengths on both the intake and the exhaust primaries to correspond with low rpm torque. As you know they started with the 170 and wanted more torque, so the 198 and 225 were the next steps in the evolution. It's too bad they hit the wall with power and the 318 motors. It was all about marketing so they could sell 318's in the cars.

Custom Coupe,

They had some tri-y designs all the way through to super long headers like we used to see on the old sprint cars (Modifieds back in the day). Today, I think the super comps are the best we can hope for to make torque.
The cast HPAK ones are fine for a high revving 170. Sort of like a Clifford header, no bottom end but lots of mids and high end.
