Well, that is a little more extreme than what I was thinking but that would be a good thing to check. I was just thinking that alot of people don't have great sniffers. If a line is leaking, or the tank is rotted out just enough to dribble, yet evaporate before a puddle forms, it may be the source of the problem.

Throw a match under the car to check :twisted: I'm kidding, i'm kidding!!

Check and see that the brass ring didn't fall out of the metering block in the carb. The seat ring can fall out and cause the little bearing to pop out as well, letting gas just pour into the carb and making your car run real rich as well as lose a bunch of mileage.
