Bad News  I sat for two hours waiting for a run. I finally got up and did my burnout staged the car, 2500 on the converter, bam! that was my foot kicking the oilpan. The car launched good cut a -.008 red light and off I go 6000 shift 6000 shift coming up on the traps, 14.54 not bad then BANG the car just started to shake like a dog $#!+ peach seeds. It sounded like I dropped the drive line and it was rattling in the loop. I pulled off the track into the grass and inspected the damage. I lifted the hood and saw the rest of my coolant pouring out of my damaged radiator. The engine was sitting a little funky but the mounts had held up fine. I looked for my tranny dip stick and it was hanging from #6 plug wire but the tube and bellhousing were missing! I looked under the car and saw tranny torqued over and hanging from the converter. The tranny mount was ripped in half. The driveline was still intact. Well i drove there and had to get trailered home.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. I hope you're up and running again soon. When you get ready to put another tranny in there, you may want to consider a scatter shield/tranny blanket!

Car parts is replaceable, yer foots isn't!

Let us know how it goes. It sounds like it was running really well until the "slight detour".

What broke first?
I once has a U-joint failure where it shifted off-centerline enough to vibrate like crazy and break-up the automatic tranny's aluminum case.
I hope the ears on the engine block are OK...

I inspected it today the engine ears are all ok. What I think happened was i bought a driveline from the wrecking yard. It was a one piece and mine was the rubber impregnated two piece. That driveline must have been bent enough to cause a harmonic imbalance at high speed. I have another case, so i will dissect it and hope everything internal is OK. Especially the 700 dollar Continential torque converter. :?

Good to hear that the engine is OK.

The front pump in the trans took a beating so inspect that carefully, make sure the pump impeller "tangs' are not broken or cracked. Also looks for hairline crack(s) in the converter's drive hub.

Spin the shafts to make sure those did not get bent.

I pulled the tranny this weekend. tore up some good s#!t. I broke an ear off the engine right under the starter. It cracked right at the bolt so I don't think it is to crucial. The converter bolts chewed a circular path across the back of the engine. took out a chunk of the cam shaft boss and riped a hole in the soft plug. not too deep, so a new plug is all that is needed. I am sending the converter to Peter at Continental for a dissect and stater change. i'm going for 3300 stall this time. Bought a TCI master kit and new flexplate. I need a starter shield and flexplate shield, if anybuddys got a spare. One thing i did notice was a missing cap from the front U-joint. I don't know if it happened before during or after the explosion. It looked and felt new so I just put my combination joint in the rear. I guess if it wasn't original or I didn't put it in I should have inspected it better. Well that is my story, I should have her back together in a few weeks and dialed in for Pacific at the end of July.
