Then there is absolutely nothing we can do. Your uncle's car will just have to keep running poorly until he stops being dumb. Get back to us when/if that happens.

My guess is he or someone he knew had a "bad experience" with valve adjustment in the past.

Best of luck! Working on family members can be a lot harder than working on cars... :)

Well the miss is gone. And in a Ripley's Believe it or not moment, I did NOT mess with the valves.

I took his Carter BBS and rebuilt it. Found a couple things wrong in there.... check balls, floats, etc. Tossed it on there in place of the Holley, and it idled right down. There's a little bog in it when you transition from idle to gas, but the miss is gone.
