yeah I unclamped the rubber hose to the tank and unclamped the hose to the fuel pump and I shot air through the hose , I had my brother under the car and he said air was coming through really good. We then hooked the rubber hose back to the tank, and I then shot more air through the hose again and I could hear the gas in tank gurgle. I really thought this was going to solve the problem but it didn't. Maybe the sock filter is just really clogged with gunk. Is it possible to remove the sending unit from the tank without having to remove the tank from the car ? I turned on the car and it started up, but it only ran for around 1 minute and then it shut off. I then again removed the air cleaner and still no gas squirting into the carb, so for some reason the gas in the tank is not coming through the line...... |

Is fuel coming out of the pump when disconnected from the carburetor? There should be strong pulses of fuel with no air coming from the pump when cranking the engine. |

Then your new fuel pump is no good or you have a leak in the fuel line allowing air to be sucked into the line rather than fuel drawn from the tank. This leak could also be a rotted pickup tube in the tank. I don't remember if you can pull the sending unit with the tank in the car or not as I've never tried. You should probably pull the tank anyway. |

Well , I pulled the sending unit today and yes I pulled it without having to drop the tank. I discovered that the tubing to the sending unit was full of debri and old varnish, i had to stab a copper wire to break up the debri and then I blew out the line. I replaced the sock filter. Now my dart is running without any problems. Thanks to everyone who helped .. |
