Be careful, once your start gathering up speed equiptment, it can be easy to get carried away fast, or 'putting the carriage before the horse' as it were. This can lead to a financial snag where you have half the engine done, but still not running and not enough to complete it.
If you get in a fix, and decide to give up and sell, Its hard to recover half of what you paid, as others will see as an incomplete 'project' AKA 'non-running heap'

With my project, I figure, it could cost me over $2000 just to give the engine/chassis a 'warm over'. Super six manifolds, carb w/rebuild, exhaust, new rad w/ electric fan, tranny cooler, solid lifters w/cam, new timing chain, water pump, fuel pump, plugs/wires, secondhand GM HEI conversion. ......really nothing special at all.

Fluids, cleaners/chemicals , paint, gaskets, kits, fasteners, wiring and lets not forget taxes etc., etc., can easily break your budget in half and collectively represent the most expense, yet are commonly overlooked

hello to a fellow young fella i just graduated highschool about 3 weeks ago i drive my car work/school anywhere needed and this is what i've done.
My car runs 10.0's in the 1/8 with stock gears i should be gettin into the 9's next week fingers crossed still without my 3.73's and posi so it runs alright for a street car.

.100 head shave @ $80.00, erson 270 cam kit @ 150$) .040 over pistons new rods 300$) new crank from year one cost me an arm and a leg 400$) i was desperate. Those oversized stainless valves from ebay 80$) 3000rpm edgeconverter 300$) oh and a shift kit and i made all the linkages for the 4bbl /kickdown cliff intake/3into 1 headers 390cfm holley.
machine shop work, only for cylinder reboring, i did the head @ 200$) i'm sure there are other random parts in there and i still dont have my 8 3/4 rear end in... yet everything costs more than you think but you can do it, i did it in highschool, doing stuff yourself saved me alot of money.

LOL You must have had a hell of a good job while in highschool to pay for all that. You couldn't do that by swinging a mop or flippin' burgers.
