Quote: Diametrically maximized base...hmmm, scratching head...oh, I see, it fits the round socket!
EXACTLY!Quote: I like how you made the contact buttons seem special by using their abbrevations from the periodic table...sort of like the dangers of Dihydrogen Monoxide
PRECISELY!

lol, that ad reads like a scientific explanation full of treknojargon from Star Trek Voyager ![]() ![]() Anyhow, yeah after looking around again I was coming to some similar conclusions myself. No frickin' lazurs (phonetically speaking) for my car today. |

Not only are the bulbs scientifically engineered for optimal electron flow through the filaments, but the filaments are carefully designed with an exponential temperature-resistance curve, and wound on precision mandrels for precise coil-to-coil distance. The filament supports are non-incandescent, and specially designed to carry the full electrical current directly to the filaments. For best efficiency, the bulb glass is selected for high transmissivity of electromagnetic wavelengths from 400 to 700 nanometres.![]() ![]() Shall I go on...? ![]() |

The bulb's base complies with the stringent technical design, construction and performance requirements of IEC 7004 category BAY15d; heavy-duty thermally-deposited alloy contacts are precisely clocked to the 0.0625" diameter index pins, and the contacts are isolated from each other and from the base with high-dielectric phenolic-filled glass... |

One interesting note on the Pulstars - based on their clear-as-mud literature, I suspect what they're really building is a Meissner Spark Intensifier built into the plug. As this page notes, that's not likely to be very useful unless you have serious oil fouling issues. |

You mean the gas isn't supposed to be a 50:1 premix? Crap... ...oh, wait. That's my outboard ![]() |

Fascinating ...but if it's so special why am I still led to believe that it is still only a ......BULB!! ![]() |

No - onions are bulbs! This is a precision piece of modern day engineering, and I intend to pay top dollar for it! ![]() |

Dang! Ya'll talkin' bout electron flow and what-not, I need to go back to college so I can get more smarter! ![]() On a more serious note, I'm glad that you fellas cut through all the B.S. That's just ONE of the things that I appreciate about this site! ![]() |

When my orange box died @ 2K miles, I did an informal survey at our big Mopar show of everyone running an orange box. About 1/2 had run theirs for years w/o trouble; the other 1/2 had replaced it a couple of times. Mine ran fine until it totally failed; fortunately I always carry a spare. I dug into the orange box; the potting is messy and the only then I can say for sure was that the main transistor did not fail; I can't say what did. Now I run a top-of-the-line NAPA box that seems to work fine and still carry a spare. |
