Ems, you amaze me. How do you know this stuff? Is it part of your work, or just an active curiousity that leads you to this kind of knowledge? Have you had a hobby project where you had to research this idea? With individual TBs (as well as individual carbs) each carb needs to be sized for peak flow rather than average flow. With a 6 cylinder engine, peak flow for each cylinder is just about the same as the average flow for the whole engine. So you would need 6 TBs that can flow 326cfm each (you're off by a factor of 2 because it takes 2 revolutions per cycle) ![]() Sam |

Ems, what you're saying then, which you said before is we need 6 TB's that could flow 326 CFM each, so we'd need 6 TB's with a diameter of 53mm? 53mm TB's would support Cameron Tilley's need for more air flow than the 40mm's he's currently running. |

Sam Mostly curiousity. I've always been mechanically inclined, so I like to figure out how things work........... |

53mm TB's would support Cameron Tilley's need for more air flow than the 40mm's he's currently running. If 53mm flows 326........... |

I have an IR manifold using 6 snowmobile carbs so i know it would work fine with 6 motorcyle or snowmobile injectors. . The carbs are 1 5/8 throttle bore. (41mm) They are probably a bit small but this was a 35 year wish to try them on a /6 so i had to do it. When in doubt a good way to size TBs is they should be the same size as the valve. Not real scientific but very practical. IR systems need huge CFM. They cant draw from a nearby barrel. If there isnt enough flow it cant get it from anywhere else. The rules we use for carbs dont matter for Fuel injectionmuch since we are worried about a lazy venturi due to slow airflow at low speed. To small can bite you, too big ? Would have to be pretty big. |
