If you are just looking for mileage, run a low tailgear (2.76) and a lockup trans. You can get some acceleration and mileage benefit from the OD trans, but it is a chunk of work.

Not to mention that the A-500 and A-518 are super heavy compared to a 904... so that may be where you lost some mileage gains. I took the A-500 apart last term in my Automatic Transmissions class, and I gotta say, it weighs probably close to double that of the 904, if not more.

What did you use to control the solenoids in the valve body? Or does the A-518 not have those?

Still is a nifty idea.
