How will you attach the T3 (or T4?) flange to the stock exh man - brazing? These are known for cracking under high heat when welded.

If you succeed, I'd gladly pay you to make another one.

I'm going to take it to the local blacksmith (been here for over 80 years) and have him furnace weld it. He's really good with cast. Here's a pic of a subwoofer amplifire im fixing(modifing). 2500W RMS. it has 24 100W Transistor pairs. slant head is in back and amp is longer.

I know the spray hits the bottom of the runner. What's the real negative effect, I'm not sure. This idea intrigues me.

There is discussion of the effects of (apparently) less-than-optimal intake manifold placement and angle of injectors in this SAE paper by Chrysler —see page 9, "Intake Manifold" section. If you take a look at Figure 17 (zoom in), the injector placement and angle on the Chrysler 2.2 & 2.5 MPFI engines looks pretty similar to that on your intake.

Those are nice pics and yes, the Chysler engnieers seemed to be completely okay with the injector angle. I liked the flat torque curve they were able to get (95% of peak torque between 1800 & 4400 rpm). Also having just gone thru the cam design process, it was interesting to see how they set up the turbo cam. In particular, intake opens at same time as exhaust closes, 8' ATDC.

Thanks for posting that paper; it had a lot of interesting info in there. My Dart has similar injector placement and I'd been wondering if there would be much to gain (though I didn't expect there to be).

If the port side of the iron head could be milled and a plate welded
that might be better. I don't know anyone who could do the
cast iron welding and not have to worry about it cracking. I
don't even know what I could use for the cast iron plate. If
milled at an angle the ports would be shortened and raised a
little, but its beyond my skills, that's for sure. For me, this
would hit most of the requirements for a custom head. I
am lurking in EFI for the next two years or so. Keep the
ideas flowing.

Post subject:  my 2 cents on welding cast iron.

try googling Dillon,Henrob or Cobrs torch. Their site has a video of how to weld cast iron with their torch. It is not hard, I have done it at one of thier vendor booths at the Louisville truck show myself. I welded a chevy cast iron exhaust manifold back together that {he} had on display for demonstration purposes. It was cut clear through except for one area. I followed the guys instructions and welded it right back up. I waitewd for that "ting" sound like when iron cracks but it never happened. I was amazed!! There was no preheating unless you count running the torch over the area for about 5 seconds. This was just to get the cold out of the iron. No more. I could not bekieve the quality of the weld either. Just as smooth as could be. And this was on a lousy chevy exhaust manifold; not known for great quality iron. I am wanting to get one of these torches but the funds have not been there so far this year. Their kit is about $395. Oh, by the way, this thing cuts sheet metal like it was a plasma torch and ther is no warping. It also welds sheet metal with very little warpage and no burn through! I am not lying. I have seen it with my own two eyes. You can also weld aluminum with it, no kidding! Will cut 3/8 steel with amazing accuracy. and it will weld stainless.
I am not a sales rep for this company, just a guy who used to be a welder and I believe an amatuer could use this thing and make decent welds in cast iron
BTW, I used an old cast iron piston ring broken in half to weld up the manifold. Yes you can weld steel to cast iron .
I could make some money welding cast with this torch. guys try it yourself to save money.

Have you ever looked at a Magnum head? The injector sprays into a hump for the pushrod area. Purely stupid looking! Yet these engines give decent power and emissions.

yeah have seen the magnum, its strange.
I just started collecting parts for a F.I. swap. Im gonna use a throttle valve from a 3.3 v6 mopar mini van. Probably use mega-squirt for the computor. Would like to find an offy intake cheap. This thread giving me some ideas as far as the injestor in the head goes.
Are the ford injectors compatible with the mega-squirt? I like the idea of the "narrow spray pattern".

Yeah, you can use just about any sort of injectors with MS except the new direct injectors.
